Congratulations. Now, it would be interesting if you could develop a game of a simlar high quality but charge $0.99 for it. Then see how the download numbers stack up.
Been playing it the last 3 days. One of the best games I've played for Android, especially in the free department! Great job and congratulations on your milestone! :)
Wonderful code Chris. I have been pouring over it for weeks. I am trying to write a 2d overhead zombie game and I want to use the replica engine...but... it is proving harder than I thought.
I am having trouble progressing onto level #18, it is lit up in green, but no amount of pressing the screen seems to take me anywhere. Any ideas? Or at least point me where to properly enquire about this.
In your Google I/O 09 talk you said you had a rant about the game industry. You touched on it some in the talk and I think I saw where you were going with it (Same stuff is being made over and over again and fewer and fewer risks are being taken?). I was thinking it would be cool if you posted your 'rant,' as I'm very interested in hearing it.
A development diary for Replica Island, a 2D side-scrolling platformer for Android devices. Now I run a game studio called Robot Invader. Like the rest of the world, I'm on twitter too.
Great application. Thanks again Chris.

ReplyDeleteHow many number of installs are active?
ReplyDeleteCharging for the app would be interesting. Try make a part 2 of this. Will be a good case study of how marketable Android games are.

ReplyDeleteAs long as it had a demo, I like to think it'd get close.
ReplyDeleteI don't believe there's any reason to think that the Android Market isn't every bit as viable as Apple's.

Awesome Game otherwise!
Replica Island doesn't seem to be on Android Market anymore. Is it not available to HTC Wildfire with Android 2.1?
